| Uyugan's population has not changed much since its founding as a separate municipality. Its population was 1,265 in 1995. This is around a tenth of the population of Batanes. All the people, except one or two, speak Ivatan as their first language, while most of the people speak Tagalog or Filipino and English as their second language. Half of Uyugan's population live in the town proper or Uyugan Centro. The other half live in Itbud and Imnajbu. |

| The municipality has four barangays or municipal districts, namely: Imnajbu, Itbud, Kayuganan, and Kayvalugan. You'll find these four Uyugan barangays or municipal districts along the coasts and brooks . They grew up there because of the sea and fresh waters necessary for their livelihood. All of these barangays or municipal districts have a main street as the core of their socio-economic life. |
